Cub Cadet Original voltage regulator
i'm looking to see if i can pick up a voltage regulator from like napa or advance for my original would anyone know the part number
|
Does that have the three on one side and one on the other
|
It's a direct replacement, the placement of the terminals may be different but just look at them, they are marked. Gen or "G" terminal is on the under side of some of the aftermarket ones rather than the side. I opted for an OE Delco one for my ir
Original, internal quality of inside components is obvious but they are also 40 plus years old. The napa one should work right out of the box with no adjustment needed but always good to check charging volts anyway when done to be safe, I'm assuming you don't have a charge gauge on the O |
No I don't have a charging gauge I'm assuming the regulator is the problem I can get it to run for a couple seconds then it shuts off but if I hold the starter button I can get it to run a little longer. I tried shooting starter fluid in to keep it running that does not help so I ruled out a fuel issue

sounds like you have a different issue not related to the VR,The motor will run without a VR connected. Time to read the free manual in the tech section to acquaint yourself with the O

I wonder if it could be the push button switch it has to be something electrical

I put a different key switch in and re wired everything following the wiring diagram. I checked the points they spark it just doesn't make since it'll run a couple seconds and shut off the. Act like the battery is like crapped out
|
Well I ran a wire straight from the battery to the coil and still the same thing. can these jump time like a car
|
Throwing parts at it and hoping they stick isn't how you find out what's wrong. DID you download the FREE service manual in the technical section of the site, and familiarize yourself with it?
As mentioned earlier, the problem could be caused by many different things. Was there a problem before you rewired everything? Or did this just start after?:bigthink: |
