782 PTO Check
Model 782 (built 1983, #715729)
44C mower deck Owner's Manual reads: "NOTE: If brake plate drags on clutch at .010-.015-inches air gap, increase air gap to .020-inches." Question: Are you supposed to be able to turn the PTO pulley by hand w/o the deck belt attached? Even at .020-inch air gap, my PTO pulley is tight to the clutch frame/housing. |
On mine the brake part of clutch holds the pulley from turning.
It is a gubber-mint requirement that the deck stops quickly after it is shut off. Just like those stupid handles on the push mowers that you have to hold or the thing stops quickly. |
If that's true, then mine is ok. The PTO engages and spins fine when engine is running and switch is ON.
Just double-checking that it's supposed to be tight when OFF. Thanks. |
