44C Mower Deck speed up pulley
I have a 782 with a 44C mowing deck that I'm trying to get to cut a bit better. I've seen lots of mention of a speed up pulley, but the only part number I've been able to find is for a 44A deck, which I believe used a 1/2" Pulley. The part number for that is IH 126393-C1.
What I"m wondering is, is there a speed up pulley for a 44C deck on a 782, which I believe would have a 5/8" belt? Or is this the best I can get? Thanks, |
The closest I've been able to get to finding something was a mention on cub FAQ. Com that the c series decks need a different part number pulley but no mention what it is. Still can't track it down any ideas?

There is NO change in the center pulley for the 44/50C series mower decks (to accommodate the 5/8" Mule Drive Belt). Now, there is nothing to be said, if you want to custom fabricate something to get faster deck "tip speeds". :IH Trusted Hand: |
You might be chasing rainbows.
The 50" decks while good, are not great. They are not a modern design, wind tunnel, deep deck. I doubt a "speed up" pulley would accomplish anything if it was avail or fabricated. Depending what you are trying to accomplish, a "gator" blade will produce, when new, finer clippings so they tend to work into the grass better. On the other hand, a blade with more "turn up" or angle, on the tip will tend to throw the clippings out of the deck better, say if the grass it wet rather than packing it on the bottom of the deck. ( it will still pack/cling when wet) This has been my experience, I'm sure others will have their opinions/views of what works best for them. Sharp blades, level deck, dry grass mowed often, will go a long way to a good finished appearance. |

check your engine rpms [3600 IIRC] , run at full throttle when mowing

i fabricated a "speed up pulley" for my 50" deck..used a hole saw to cut the top pulley from the "stack", then i bought a weldapulley from the implement store...i believe its a 4.5" or maybe even a 4"....i trued up the inside in the lathe then fried it all together with little stitches...definitely cuts alot better, blade speed increased...does work the motor harder when the pto switch is hit though also....i can post some pics if i pull the deck down off the wall and pull the cover off i suppose...if anyone wants......
