2082 Drive Belt Adjustment
Good evening fellas,
I'm back with a question about my 2082 with the 54" GT deck and I need another nudge in the right direction. Last time I mowed I ended up having to stop halfway through and do some work on the belt tensioner on the deck. It wouldn't hold tension on the deck belt, so I cleaned up the spring with some PB blaster and compressed air and it seemed to free everything up so I could get the yard done. While I had the deck out I did grease the tensioner. When I was putting everything back together I noticed the PTO drive belt was way out of adjustment as per the 324 deck manual I've got. I picked up a brand new belt from the local dealer and yesterday I installed the new belt and tried adjusting everything again, and I can't get it adjusted the way the manual wants. If I adjust the adjustment arm in, so the pulley and belt ride lined up with the V notch in the frame (Right side as your looking from the front), the left side is way off (has the spring loaded arm with a notch to hold the pulley back). If I adjust the arm out, and pull the spring loaded side back in so the V notch on that side is positioned correctly, the adjustment arm side pulley rides way forward of it's V notch and almost touches the front of the frame. I've included a couple pictures as I'm sure you guys can't picture what I'm saying from my babbling. :bash2: Thanks for the nudge. Post a pic of the mule drive, I want to see how you have it mounted. This is a Super with a Haban but it will give you an idea of what I need to see.

Do these two help you Sam??

Yep they sure do. Just my 2 cents but I would get a shorter belt. If you have a TSC near you take your old belt and match it up then get a couple shorter belts, keep the one that fits the best and return the others.
Thought maybe you had the sub frame mounted in the wrong holes but your good. |
We do have a TSC locally, I'll give that a try. I wanted to throw some pics up here before I threw money at shorter belts. Thanks! Anyone else????

Everything looks ok from here, just looks like the belt is too long. X2 for a shorter belt.

Any idea(s) on why the belt the factory calls for would be too long for the application?
|
What belt did you buy...????

954-3047 is what I got.

You got the part that it calls for. I'd still take your old belt to TSC and get a couple that are shorter than what you have. I just went through the same deal on one of my 2182's with a 60" Haban. I was basically Bush hogging with it, something that I know is wrong and picked up a branch that caused the PTO belt to jump off the deck pulley. Long story short it destroyed the belt so off to TSC we go pick up 3 different size belts and use the one that fits the best. The supposed Cub size and what I ended up using don't jive. BTDT. :biggrin2::bash2:
