K-241 resister?

I broke the ceramic resister going to my coil when I was putting the shroud back on, if I understand it correctly it reduces 12v down to 6v for the ignition coil. Can I just replace my coil with a 12v coil and do away with the resister?

The ceramic resistor does decrease the voltage. Voltages after the resistor are typically 6-9 volts. I would recommend installing the coil that is designed for the Kohler "K"series engines as it has the proper resistance built in.

the resistor most people use was used on the 60's - 70's Chrysler products. if you put a stock Kohler coil on you don't need it

I picked up the new coil today, no need for a external resistor now, Thanks!
