Pto switch has to be physically held in the engage position. Need help:

You have a 1541, that makes it a CCC/MTD. I moved your post to the proper area.

MTD = Modern Tool & Die Co

When IH sold the Cub Cadet line in 1981, it was sold to CCC. CCC was owned by MTD. After a period of time, the CCC disappeared and it was all MTD.

If you have to hold the PTO switch in the start position to keep it engaged, then there are three possible issues:
(A) Reverse Switch
(B) Reverse Relay
(C) Seat Switch(es)

Do you have a DVM or a VOM.....????
