Pull start question

Just saw crossing crowns thread on his "pull start k241" in his O. So here's my question. Does he have the rare pull start blower housing on it from the k161 that would have come with the O? Or was there an option on the 100 for it to be a recoil start? But then again the 70 and 100 were direct drive so no drive pulley needed. I've just never seen one. I have a k 181 pull start but never looked at the guts of the recoil. I have an O with no motor but have the 181 and Extra O oil pan which is why I'm asking because it would be cool to put that in but thinking that recoil is a differet one than I have.

Stop dreaming as the pull start on that is a Kohler one, not a Fairbanks Morse one.

Lol Lew.

That would be nice to have a pull start on a kohler.

the K161 pull start won't fit on a K241. there is a recoil rope start I've seen on air compressors and welders,

Ok smarty pants so do you know how mr crown has this on his O? With a drive pulley for the clutch as well? I guess we need pictures because I am con- fuse -ed.

Crown is the pull start mechanism separate from the blower housing?

Attachment 66608 this is the best I can do.. the fly wheel has a pull pulley on it if you will.. it follows the rim of the housing and edge of the fly wheel. the pic doesn't show it well

Well Lew and Don, I should know better, I will take my lashings And go back in my corner.........carry on :biggrin2:

Thank you crown for posting the pics, I got excited there for a minute. For some reason I keep hoping I can use the engine I have but I'm interviewing for a job with the correct police and the 181 will have to go
