Finding Parts No Longer Sold New
 

Does anyone have a good source of Cub Cadet parts that are no longer carried by the usual parts places?

I've got a 1998 Cub Cadet HDS3185 and need a Fan Flywheel (part number BS-843977) No one apparently makes the part any more. It's plastic and helps suck air in the back of the engine for cooling. If there are ways of finding another part that would fit, that would be great also. I would just hate to scrap a great machine for lack of a plastic part.

That is a pretty new tractor not to be able to buy that part. Where did you look?

Edit: I looked and you are right. I am not sure what to do in this case. Maybe you can find a NOS.

I had checked the sponsors of this site without success. But this Briggs Stratton Store did seem to have it. I don't know why it didn't show up in all my Internet searches... So thanks dark_minion_17. I just ordered one and hope it is what I need. I really like the 3185 and have not found any other tractor with its strength and durability. I hope this is what I need and that I can get it all back together.

I have used a 3185 yes it is a nice tractor but compared to a super....

Ordered the part last night. Got a message this morning from the BriggsStrattonStore that my money was refunded because the part was not available. So I'm back where I started. No part.

Ideas welcomed. Need Cub Cadet Fan-Flywheel BS-808082 or BS 843977 for a CC HDS 3185. I really would hate to scrap a solid Cub Cadet over an unavailable plastic part.

There are a few images of this fan on the web. It "looks" like a poorly engineered part. I am also amazed that this part is NLA considering the age and quality of this part. One would think that B & S would have a new and improved replacement. :bigeyes:

Make sure you have all the numbers off the engine.

Did a little digging and it looks like the fan your looking for has been replaced by part # 841439
