LT1042 brake issue
 

Hi everyone! I recently bought
A 2005 LT1042. This is my first riding mower, so I'm new to all the maintenance of a riding mower, but willing to learn.

Tonight I was greasing the axel hubs and spindles. I also wanted to check the blades without taking the deck off. I pulled the mower up on a small ramp to get a better look underneath the deck. When I applied the brake the mower promptly rolled backwards.

Any tips on dealing with the brakes on these?
