Surging 1810
 

Hi Folks
Today while mowing my 1810 started surging when the engine is not under load.(going down hill,operating with the pto disengaged). Under load it works ok. Any ideas? Thx a lot

Plugged low speed circuit in the carb. Remove it, rebuild/clean it. Flush fuel tank, replace fuel lines, check the fuel pump, replace the filter.

Question (semi-on topic): If the fuel pump is bad and one elects to run without it, is there a place to get a block-off plate or is that a make your own solution?

The fuel pump mounting is the same style as the old K series mounting. If you elect not to run it, find a block off plate off of an old K and it will bolt right on.

We have Liftoff...started working my way from the fuel tank.(clean..free flowing) fuel filter(clean,free flowing) Pulled the Walbro carb. When I removed the sediment bowl I found lots of dirt and what looks like fibers from the reinforcement material of the fuel hose.(my fuel lines are all pretty new). Anyway, cleaned the bowl and pulled both needles and cleaned up with compressed air and a little carb cleaner. Reassembled everything to original spec. and she fired right up after a little letting the fuel bowl fill. Mowed for about 1/2 hr. and the 1810 is working great once again. Thanks Fellas! For some reason I just wasn't thinking fuel delivery.
Will be asking for a little assistance next week when I tackle an electrical problem with my 1864. THANKS AGAIN

As long as you don't confuse surging with missing then it is almost 100% fuel related. Missing is almost 100% electrical. These things are so simple and easy to work on but once in a while they throw a problem at us that is tough to solve.:beerchug:
