Wait,.... That doesn't sound right!!!
I have hung around here for a while, but just got registered and wanted to say hi! Been involved with garden tractors for a while. Started out with green (John Deere), then went blue (Ford/Jacobsen), and have started exploring the Cub world. I have 4 cubs (well, Cub projects) - 3 IH Cubs and an MTD Cub. My main Cub (actually not running at the moment, just got pulled apart for a repaint and to replace the quietline engine mounts) is my 1250. Also have a 1650 in-a-box - the PO took it apart (?!?!) and never put it back together. Its a future project for reassembly. Finishing up on a 1861 magnum 18 which had engine/wiring issues (I'm gonna play with it for a while and then it will be looking for a new home).... And finally, a REALLY rough 62 Original that is a LONG way from running - Its just sitting in a corner for now until I can eventually do a full refurbish on it. I'm retired and enjoy playing with mechanical stuff. I also have a Ford LGT165 that has been repowered with a Kohler Command 18, and a square fender Deere 110 grass cutter. Anyway, just wanted to introduce myself and say hi. I have got a lot of help from y'all by reading the forum over the past year or so, and wanted to take part - and say thank you. |
Welcome Bill :beerchug:

Hello and welcome! Sounds like you got enough to keep you busy for awhile! A 1650 in a box?? I'd take that as a challenge! I wouldn't shy away from it. Guess I'm nuts be kinda fun to piece it together! A buddy has an original he bought like that. Everything was there! Good luck! Lots of friendly helpful people here, so don't be afraid to ask questions!

I figured I would get some ribbin for not having pictures. But on my first post I couldn't figure out how to post pictures. The software on this board is a little different from what I am used to. There seems to be a learning curve on everything!
Here are a couple pictures. First is the 1250, before its new clothes. I need to get a set of side panels for it...Second one is the original - less the hood and engine (which I have as well) - as you can see, it is pretty rough!. Last one is the 1650 on the trailer as it came home. I have a set of pictures of the 1250 disassembled and being painted, but the camera isn't here to upload them. Will upload later, maybe start a new thread for it. With the 1650, I knew what I was getting into. Originally I bought it to upgrade my 1250 to hydraulic lift, and it came with a #1 tiller and lift parts. So I got it as a parts tractor. And it WAS in pieces! Pile here, pile there, etcetera. We spent a half hour walking around this guys barn picking up pieces! But it is all there, and was in pretty good shape, aside from being all apart! So, my plans changed to save it instead of part it. And since it basically is the same as the 1250, I have an example of how it goes together! The game plan is to get the 1250 all fixed up, then reassemble and get the 1650 running, and renovate the tiller. Then decide which (or both) I want to keep..... |
Welcome Bill and thanks for the pics. Good to see another fellow Floridian on here as well.
