Jacobsen Chief 1000
Hey guys my neighbor just gave me this Jacobsen Chief 1000.
I dont know anything about it other than it was made from 64-71. It has a 10 or 12hp Kohler on it. It came with a blade and a mower deck. It has a hydraulic lift, appears to be the same on on the NF cubs http://i812.photobucket.com/albums/z...psw1pzxgmg.jpg http://i812.photobucket.com/albums/z...pslivsh7gr.jpg http://i812.photobucket.com/albums/z...psw2t28cyx.jpg http://i812.photobucket.com/albums/z...psjd5uxqxr.jpg http://i812.photobucket.com/albums/z...psy20r1ndl.jpg |
Jake also built for Minneapolis moline and ford, prolly others
good little mower in their day.:beerchug: |
Nice find, I have owned 3 of those, all the same with hydraulic lift and the blade, down to 1, also have a 1450 super chief, great tractors.

Nice, I am going to try getting it running tomorrow. The pump's pulley seems to turn really hard so I will have to look into that.... but other than that it seems good. I dont know anything about them, know where to get op and service manuals?

Mine was a Minneapolis-Moline town & country 108 but built by Jacobson
with a kohler 8 hp. It had a timed 36" deck with a sliding arrangement to engage the deck belt. Also came with a Tecumseh engine that nobody liked. They were a tough little mower that my twin boys could not destroy, and that was saying something, Ha,LOL. I used it prolly 10 years cutting about 3 acres. I did have a problem with deck spindle shafts having to make a few, as the timing pulleys would wallow them out in the keyways. The transaxle takes 90W. If yours is a 1000 series, thinking they were a 10 Hp. I never has a hydraulic lift on mine. Brakes were just a band, around a flat pulley on the side of transaxle, and a notched lever for parking. check the oil seal there, and the one on the drive pulley shaft. That has the origional tires on it. |
Don't know much about it, but it sure is cool!

Nice find Cory, are the hydro pumps similar to the cub cadet ones?
