Which snow thrower fits my 149?
Can anybody tell me which snow thrower(s) will fit my 149? Also, if you could tell me how to determine the thrower's model number, that would be VERY helpful as well. I'm going to look at one tonight and need to know so I don't buy something that I'll get home and find out it doesn't fit. My wife would absolutely KILL me...lol. Thanks in advance.

Do not buy a Haban model 368-001 (H-42) or 368-101 (H-48) they will not fit they are for the newer red cubs. I found this out the hard way:bash2:

The correct Snowthrowers for the 149 would be: QA-36A or QA-42A

Great, thank you. Now how do I find the model number on the snowthrower?

There is a Id tag located on the snowthrower. Should look very similar to a tag on a tiller or a mower deck. It will be located on the top of the thrower, if I rember correctly.

Thanks, Tyler. Any suggestions on how to tell if the snowblower is "workable"? I spun the auger and it turn with a little effort. I also turned the pulley and it seemed to be ok but it turned with more effort. The u-joints seemed to be pretty tight and there didn't seem to be too much slop in the gearbox. Any other things I should look for?

Sounds like it should be good, but make sure the bearings on the auger don't grind or rattle... If they do, they will need to be replaced soon. As long as the gearbox is tight, ujoints move and are tight... It should be good. Oh! Check to make sure the auger is still straight! Other than that.. it should be good!
