982: How do you fill hydro fluid? Keeps burping.
I tried to fill up the hydro on my yellow 982. Dipstick right behind the battery under the seat. Apparently, there's 2 types of these; mine has the elevated fill tube. Anyhow, using a funnel, whenever I pour a little bit of fluid in, it covers over the small hole, and moments later the machine releases a big burp, spewing most of the new fluid out, all over the machine. Any more than a tiny drip gets puked out. with a 2 gal jug, that's not easy. Is there a secret to doing this with minimal spillage?

Stick your funnel in the fill hole, take a small tube and feed it through the funnel into the rear making sure to leave some sticking up above the funnel. This allows the air to escape from that tube and your fluid to go down unimpeded.

Just go as slow as you can, and use a funnel. Other than that not much you can do.

This is normal then?

Yes. I have removed the access cover to the hydro release valves and removed one of them just enough to prevent the famous burp.

It's normal but there's also a way around it, see my above post :beerchug:

When using a funnel, offset it so it only covers half of the hole. Don't push it down in the hole. You will have to hold onto it. This works by letting hytran run down one side while letting air escape as needed. This process has worked for me. Takes awhile, so patience is a good thing.

I have used the small tube through the funnel and it works so much better than getting a face wash from the annoying burps.
