What do you do for charity?

Here is a rare picture of Cub Cadet 123. I dressed up (no this is not the way I normally look):biggrin2:) to promote a haunted house in my community. Admission is free, but some people donate money and we give 100% of it to charities. Last year our proceeds went to a veteran's organization, a food pantry and the Christmas Angel tree. This year, we hope to give to Shriner's Hospital, the food pantry and the Christmas Angel tree.

That's great Cub Cadet 123, it's those types of selfless acts that make our communities such great places to live. As all three of my boys have been in Boy Scouts we spend much time giving to our community. One of the main recipients of our time is our local council on aging. We run at least one food drive each year to support their food pantry, set up tables and cleanup as part of their Christmas bazaar, have done several large Eagle projects there and generally make ourselves available to them for whatever reason. We also support the Knights of Columbus who run a local fishing derby. We clear grounds around a local pond each year for their event. I also support our towns high school music program by raising money while working at Gillette Stadium (That's right, Patriots Games) and drive their tractor trailer around to band competitions, going as far as Met Life Stadium and Dayton Arena.

I like to do car shows and stuff like that. My truck is nothing special by any means but i still enter in certain ones. Get to meet a lot of great people and most of the money goes to a great cause

Last weekend we did our Haunted House for charity. We had over 400 people go through in just over 6 hours and raised $300 for charity through donations and some canned goods! Everyone who went through got a free trick or treat bag with candy in it. It was a lot of fun, but also a lot of work. Happy Halloween everyone.

I give to a lot of charities. But one thing I do in our little community is I take my 2084 with its 451 snow blower and sneak around and blow out driveways. I do not take money for this and it gives me a real sense of doing something good for my neighbors when they did not even ask. I recall getting home all tired from work and still having to clean out my own driveway and often thinking how nice it would be if someone had done it while I was at work. I recall years ago I just went up the road cleaning out drives and one nice lady opened her door and said "How much do I owe you" to which I said maam if I charged for my services you could not afford me but a cup of coffee would be nice. She did tell me that her husband was still at work and had a bad heart and she was just praying for something good to happen and there I was.

I spent 15yrs as a Volunteer FireFighter and 8.5yrs as an EMT volunteer on a local Ambulance service. Getting too old to do that now.

I do landscaping on the side from my main job as a security supervisor. This year I mowed grass at a local animal shelter. They couldn't pay me but it felt good to help others. Plus on top of that they gave me their ford 8n tractor with 72" finish mower and snow blade. Hoping to get it ready for next year.

President of the local Volunteer Fire Company going on 23 yrs of service..
Never looked at it as community service, more as a family tradition, 4th generation strong! |
I work at an assisted living community helping take care of our elderly population. I also just gave blood if that counts :biggrin2:

I help out local people trying to get a fresh start in life on an individual basis (I don't take a tax deduction for what I do) and I pay way more than my far share to help pay for the millions of illegals in this country and the corrupt administration that is ruining this country.
