1512 Snagged
 

I've gone from no diesels in ten years to two of them this year alone! Everything fell into place last week, and I was able to snag this all-original, one-owner 1512. Unknown hours due to a broken meter, but I'd estimate 1000-1200 based on front tire wear and overall tractor wear. Came with a 44C deck, 450 Snowblower, 50# wheel weights, hub caps, manuals, a spare key, the missing Cub Cadet emblem, plus a nearly full tank of fuel, plus a 5 gallon diesel fuel can that was 2/3 full. And there was a tag-along MTD 38" yard sweeper that's in pretty good shape.

The PO had passed away during the summer, and the daughters were cleaning out the estate and were looking for a quick, no-nonsense sale of the tractor and accessories, and I just happened to be off work that day and was in position to drive out and pick it all up. The tractor needs a full and complete cleaning and going through, but the bones are excellent so far and it's cleaned up very well to this point. There was a major issue with battery corrosion and sulfuric acid that had leaked down the tower and even onto the side panels where it pitted the paint, but it cleaned up well and now you can't even tell there was an issue except for the pitted paint. Still has the single ground wire to the air filter bracket, and still has the original starter which hangs up at times, and will be replaced by the gear-reduction upgrade. The hydro drives fine, but the input shaft has a steady drip when running, and has made a mess under the tractor, albeit coating everything with hy-tran and protecting the painted surfaces while keeping things lubed.

This is my keeper. The 882 will be listed in the next few days with it's own 450 blower. I'm just a stickler for 'original', and this 1512 is unmolested and just the way it left the factory. Here's some starter 'as delivered' pics.

Travis, they ARE slotted. When exactly did that start?

Oak, the 882 is identical except for the decals, so I'm not sure I need twins. Heck, I think the kind codes are even the same. If one was a Super, I'd consider holding onto them both. Plus I have that nice 782 already. Then again, I DO happen to own the entire 1x4/5 series, so no foul in owning siblings, right? :bigthink:

You know, if I just had the space, I'd keep them all...

Oh, and Travis, I removed this tractor from the Commonwealth. Warrenton, to be exact. That's my second pull from VA this year. The other was a 1650 package deal - 50A, PeCo Vac, #2 Tiller, plow. And I thought the good stuff only came from north of the Mason-Dixon Line...

I was thinking they weren't slotted until the 1572 but if you pull up some Google images, some 1512's are slotted and some not. My 1512 is not slotted but it was one of the first built in 1985. When was your new machine built Tom?

Travis, it WAS on CL. It had posted Tuesday evening around 8:30 and I didn't see it until 7:30 the next morning. I was sure it was long gone, or that I was 4th or 5th in line like usual, but she answered and was ready to send additional pics of anything I wanted to see. We worked out a time to meet and I was on the road 2 hours later.

Nice find on the 1512 ,Not too many diesels up this way for cheep that is for sure.
