Found this thing in bed with me last night! Dont know where I picked him up, I go straight from shower to my bed every night( about 15') but I did not like it, every 5 mins it felt like something was crawlling on me! Ticks have been bad here the past couple year so I bought chickens, they help because the are free range but i may have to buy some more in spring.

With eggs over $2/dozen, a few more chickens is a good idea.

Seriously though, been there once recently and it SUCKED :bash2:

Know 2 guys who have had tick fever this summer, it is no fun at all.

There is the bourbon tick disease too and lime disease
The bourbon ( named for bourbon co kansas) killed a strong ,healthy farmer , it said in 11 days after the bite

My dogs hardly ever have ticks on them but the cat comes home covered in them, I found a tick in my hair a few months back but it wasn't attached.

Yeah, no doubt! I have 4 hens and a rooster and i get 6 eggs a day on average.

Pulled this one from my shep. pup this afternoon! These things are every place again all of a sudden! I heard of some powder stuff you spread on your grass when its dry, can even put on dog food. TSC. anyone ever try it, or hear of it?

We have wood ticks here. Real bad in the spring during turkey season. It's nothing to come back and have a half dozen crawling on one's self. Occasionally one get's stuck on.
The dogs get a yearly limes shot to help protect them along with Frontline. But they still find a way to get a couple big ole puffy full of blood ones occasionally. The one dog doesn't do good with the Frontline, he get's a rash, so he has to tough it out...
The deer tick is the nasty, hard to see and feel one. Wood ticks aren't as bad, but still a nuisance.
Be careful though, those deer ticks can mess you up real bad.:bigthink:

I used to butcher deer, I remember one year they were so on just about every animal that came into the shop.
