I have attached a picture my 1200 QL that my 12 year old is mowing with. I went with my step dad to buy it off the original owner in 1981, I was 5. When I was about 10, my step dad left, so I inherited the cub. I mowed with it until I moved out at the age of 21. It sat in my mom's shed for 18 years. I told her to keep it because I would want it when I moved to an acreage.
Well, that finally happened and I am reliving my childhood and passing down the feeling to my own kids. I did not prepare the 1200 for long term storage, so after sitting 18 years, it needed some serious attention. Some of the attention was above my abilities, so I took it to the local cub cadet expert and he got it running like a champ. |
The 1200 is a great little tractor. I have one also and love to plow with it.
Get your boy a plow and some weights for that rig and join us next spring at a plow day. If we are lucky and the weather holds there will be one, hopefully, up north of us. You missed a great one last month at Buck Creek. I'm located 40 miles west of Dubuque on HWY 20. Drop me a PM for directions and stop by some time and chat. I have a shed full of Cubs, currently restoring a 126. Dave S |
Great story and welcome! Nice looking original 1200 and that is great that you kept it for that long. There are a lot of great people on here and a wealth of information including service manuals, parts, wiring diagrams, Etc the list goes on.

I couldn't agree more with getting a plow. I picked one up a couple weeks ago. It isn't pretty, but it was cheap! I didn't notice how bent the frame was until I had to squeeze the hangers together to get it to fit.
Oh, I also couldn't resist this #2 cart. The PO painted it yellow. He said he just liked yellow better when I asked why. It doesn't bother me, and my boys love it. |
Welcome to OCC. That's a nice 1200. I kind of like that yellow #2 :beerchug:
