Moving the carport
 

So I pulled the plug and relocated my 18X20 aluminum carport today. I had scoured the net and found all kinds of thoughts on how to do it -- almost made me give up before I started. But I have a secret weapon - a Cub Cadet 782!

Initially I was concerned about twisting or racking the carport and thought about bracing it, but then I decided if I was careful I could pull it without damage. I set a couple of pulleys straight out and in line with each side, and using a long rope hooked to the Cub I pulled toward the carport. The ropes pulled the carport nice and straight, and since I was pointed toward the carport, I had a clear view of what was happening. Taking it easy and stopping for breaks every little bit, it took me about two hours by myself to remove the anchors, move the carport and reset the anchors. I love my 782!!

My neighbor has a canvass covered car port. I was out in the back yard and watched the wind lift it about 15 feet in the air and move it to the woods for him. The wind didn't move it as carefully as you did.

Nice job for a 1 man show!! Mine needs moved, too when I get a chance, but mine will need over about 7' sideways. I was going to recommend sleepers, but I saw that you already thought of that. Archimedes would be proud of you.
