I picked up a cab and 450 blower for my 782.
Last winter I used a qa42a w/o a cab.
Any tips with the 450 would be greatly appreciated as its kinda foreign to me....

That looks to be a serious snow removal system. Wish you success using it. :)

Get some rear weights and chains. You need them with that heavy blower on the front. Don't feed sticks into it. They will tear it up good. So will large rocks and chunks of curb (ask me how I know :bigeyes:). Make sure that both gear boxes have lube. They are expensive to repair. If you break an auger sheer bolt, use a grade 5 bolt. Augers are expensive too. Make sure you have a good belt, or a new one on hand. It takes a ton of power to run, make sure the 782's motor is ready. I haven't found an attachment yet that will lug down a twin and kill it as fast as a snowblower. Air the front tires up to 30psi. It's heavy and the higher pressure makes it easy to steer.

Have fun! The 450's are snow eating :censored:. Once you shine up the impeller and chute, do not paint it. Coat it WD-40 for storage. Snow moves through it better when it's shiny bare, just like a plow. :beerchug:

I slightly bent the auger on mine on a frozen newspaper and sheared the bolt. Suggest clearing the path prior to the snow and having spare shear bolts. Spray with silicone if the snow is wet and sticky.

Traction is very limited in reverse. Think safety. Keep hands and feet away from the moving parts.

You will learn to blow with the wind, not into the wind.

Brass closet collar set bolts work good 5/16 and brass grade 5 will stretch out the hole BTDT

I was able to fashion up a rear weight bracket yesterday, also repaired the hydro trunion and did new springs and shimmed the play out of the linkage...

I have this setup. It blows snow like crazy. As mentioned its heavy relative to the tractor.

Besides sticks, I have run frozen newspaper through it also. Also bad.

It doesnt lift very high, so if you are in deep snow and maneuvering where low traction it can be a struggle. So give yourself a good starting and turnaround swath.

watch where the chute is pointed it gets a lot more distance then qa42
