Bought another 1864
2 Attachment(s)
Looking for some opinions here... just bought a 1864 that is complete less the plastic and battery. Seats not great, front tires are miss matched, deck is missing ga wheels n brkts on back, hr meter shows 869 hrs.
I own another 1864 that is being restoficated at the moment & Dad owns an 1864. I will be re-doing the 982 after the 1864 is done. thought about using the pwr steering, engine, and drive shaft in the 982. The 1864 is one of the best cubs built IMO, n I hate seeing cubs parted. Thoughts are, keep it for parts, keep parts I want & sell the rest, fix up and keep, fix up and sell... or just park n see what happens :bigthink: Comments welcome... |
If it runs OK I'd save it.

If I owned that many 1864's it wouldn't be going anywhere. Tarp it up and push it in a corner. One can never have to many cubs or parts.:beerchug:

To bad your so far away I've been looking for a 1864. As they said you cant have too many cub parts so its a keeper.

A donor 1440, 1641 1860-63 can get you all the parts you need.
I'd keep it. |
I hate turning a fixable machine into a parts machine. That said I still haven't committed to pulling the rear from the 682 we picked up last week to put under a 782. I think the only way to make the decision is to clear up my other shop projects and get both Cadets into the shop and then go from there. I am glad there are guys that will strip machines for parts, the sad part is they will tear apart stuff better than what I'm often trying to fix!

Got it running, sounds great other than bad gas, everything works, Hydro, deck, PTO, ect. So I think she is a keeper waiting to get some new plastic and a good cleaning/tune-up.

If you change your mind I'm right across the river. :biggrin2:

Hi all, decided to keep the 1864, use it. Have been on the hunt for plastic and found some decent plastic for a reasonable price. Nothing super special but its better than a kick in the groin.

Looks good from here!
