Inherited my Dad's 1650 Hydrostatic and I love it.

I just restored my Dad's 1650 Hydrostatic. For three years it's been great mainly as a lawn mower and hauling around my yard sweeper for leaves (my 1 acre has 16 100 year old oak trees). Needless to say, it has been a life saver. I remember my Dad using the snowthrower and rototiller attachments and at some point in the early 80's something stopped working with it and it sat in our shed until my mom and her new husband moved it and attempted to get it running. Unfortunately they also thought it would look better if it was painted red and gray, yuck. I moved into my new house in Toledo, Oh in 2012 and took the tractor to a place in Medina (south of Cleveland) called Bob's Mowers and they put it back together. It sat so long unused it is in incredible shape. All the attachments are great too. They barely looked used. However this summer the lawnmower stopped working, it went to barely turning the blades. I remember Bob saying if the PTO went out it could be trouble. So here I am asking for advice. I can't find someone local to me that knows these tractors. Open to anything. Thanks!

1650

Welcome to O.C.C!

the 1650 is a great tractor. It is part of the Quietline series. I love this series in spite of the motor mounts. Most of my collection consists of this series. Medina is a great area too. I am near Youngstown just south of you. This forum has a great knowledge base with it's members and a very good collection of technical resources too! :beerchug:

If the blades are turning at all your belt may be slipping g or out of adjustment. Check and see if the spindles on the deck turn free. The idler puller on the deck could be frozen also. Pull the deck and take the cover off and have a look see. The PTO is electric but does require adjustment. You have a large binder there. Maybe there's an owners manual and a repair manual in there. If not they are available to download on this site. Are you in Medina? I'm in Peninsula not far from there.

I live in Toledo. My mom lives in Hinckley near Medina where Bob's Mowers is located. I was hoping to find someone closer to Toledo.

Hello, and welcome. I live near Alexis and Tallmadge. Where are you located. Maybe we could get together.

South Toledo. Near the Zoo. Are you someone that would be able to look at my 1650? Or do you have someone you take yours to?
