Hello all you Cub lovers!
Bitter sweet things have transpired in last few weeks. First the bad. I have Cub 1045 lawn tractor.. It was really a great little machine for last 10 years until about 2 weeks ago. I checked the oil and so on before starting it up to pull my agra-fab leaf vac. About 30 min into my work I could hear what sorta sounded like the Kohler courage 20 start to miss a little.. Slight vibration but not knocking really. I shut it down and looked things over. To my surprise I was now about a half quart low on oil. "the machine never used oil between changes before this and I changed every spring" There was oil around the base of the engine and i looked at the side of the block and found a very small crack in the housing. DAMN IT! Anyway I decided I wanted to buy a real garden tractor not a lawn mower because I use some ground engaging attachments and my tractors see quite a bit of use. HAPPY DANCE! I found what I think is a real nice low time Cub Cadet "mtd" 1211 Hydro. Its in all original extremely clean condition. It has 355 hours on it and was stored in doors its entire life. It came with a 46" deck "think the original would be a 44" but not certain" 3 bag attachment, A 50" snow/dirt blade with hydro lift. and a Nice dump cart. I got the whole setup from a guy that's just a few miles from my house. It also included some wheel weights, a cover, all the service receipts " yes a 3 ring binder full" and the original parts and service manuals. I paid $600 for everything which is about $400 less than a new engine for the 1045 would have cost. Very pleased indeed. I own and operate an equipment company. We buy airport equipment to refurbish and resell. Our largest tractor we deal with in the industry is a TUG GT110 which weighs 110,000 pounds with ballast weights. But I still love my "little" tractor. |

On the back of the tractor there are two small holes. Around one of them it says "higher" and "lower" what is this adjustment for? Thanks http://i63.tinypic.com/2rwaudt.jpg http://i65.tinypic.com/5k1uo0.jpg http://i66.tinypic.com/1qh56b.jpg |
Looking good!

Thanks Bbrown8
There are a few things i need to do to it.. Front tires a little bit dry rotted. The deck drive belt has a small cut it it. "still works" Also after running for about 20 min or so if i shut it off its a little hard starting which im sure is just a tune up type of issue. And I noticed if I have the deck engaged for awhile and it disengages by going into reverse The pto clutch makes a little noise when i go to re-engage it.. Overall im quite happy with it tho.. Lots of power and seems like it was a very well taken care of machine |
