When replacing bolts that hold the axel tube to the rear end do you use red locktite like it came from the factory?

I would use green or blue. but not red.

I use silicone and lock washers.

That's close to what I use too. Instead of silicone I use anaerobic sealant, Loctite brand and then of course the lock washers. I use the anaerobic sealant because it sets up harder so it has more of a loctite effect. :beerchug:

Thanks for the reply. J- Mech, I can't even pronounce the stuff you use!! But I will check at Napa for some to use on this project. I'm just hoping my son can get the 3 bolts out tonight, he has more experience at that than I do. " I really don't want to screw this up!" I think I have read somewhere while I have this apart that I can drill a hole so oil will drain better. Can someone refresh my memory on this. Thanks again guys!
