Old Chainsaws--having fun!

Dad had to take down a couple really large maples last summer. We left the main bodies until we could find time to drag out some of our 2 man saws and “play”. Dad is 85 and wanted to make one cut. I got the saw in position and let him have at it till it got pretty low to the ground, then I took over. My son is on the little end. The saw is a 2 cylinder Titan Blue Streak. It runs 1 pt of 50w oil to the gallon of gas and uses a 5/16” file to sharpen the chain. We ran 2 of these, a 52 Poulan, and a big Mall with around a 40” bar. The others have 33” bars. This is the first time any were ran in 8 years. I've got a couple more I want to get out and get running again if time permits.

That's pretty cool. Good to hear your Dad wanted a go at it too :beerchug:

There is a wood cutting show around here in a couple weeks. Here's a couple pics from a former show and this year's ad.

Cool saws and it's really great that your Dad was able to get out and take a cut as well.

Just looking at them scare me to dead! I remember one of my coworker who had been hit by a flying Pioneer chainsaw chain, that huge monster live a horrible scare on his face to the back of his head, I can imagine how payneful it was.

I have my grandpas old pioneer holiday chainsaw down stairs. Hasn't ran for close to 20 years. I remember it being hard to start and very loud! And heavy. Hope to get it before to long. Needs some serious cleaning of the bar and chain.

Hopefully we can get some more sawing in this coming weekend. I'll take a few close-up pics of the saws if we do.

Jeff, that show looks real interesting, can't believe they are doing it this time of year though, WAY too cold! On the flip side dad tells of sawing the wood for his brothers house in July with a 2 man Mercury. All I can say is those old guys really know what hard labor is!

Mr Haines is half of Haines and Kibblehouse, a very large road construction company ( H&K Group ). There are tractors, old engines, chain saws plus he has his garages open with old trucks and road equipment too. Even has chain drive Mack trucks from when the company was started. He's a Roy Roger's fan and purchased Nellybelle the CJ2A jeep

It's a really good show and I've been there during snow storms too
