hydro conversion
 

my 1650 is hydro-static with manual lift deck. how hard would it be to convert it to hydraulic lift? thanks

Not hard, just a little expensive if you try to buy the parts individually. You will need a "ported" pump, 4 hydraulic lines, the control valve and the cylinder and mounting bracket.

My two cents is find another QL with the hydraulic lift that someone is scrapping or it has a bad motor. If you check the auction sites for the individual parts, it won't be cheap.

other than the ease of hydraulics, is there any pros for converting it or would it be easier just to leave it like it is?

I had a 1250 with manual lift, and now have a 1650 with hydraulic lift. The only time I think it is worth while is when I use my QA42 snowblower. The snowblower and I assume other heavy implements like a tiller, definitly are easier to use with the hydraulic lift. If you are just mowing grass, I don't think it is any easier.

It all comes down to, if you can and want to use the "Armstrong" type of lift or the ease of moving a hydraulic lever.

Are you sure you don't have a 1250 Cub? Maybe somebody changed the decals. I don't believe any 1450 or 1650 Cubs came with a manual lift.

I just did this swap for about $150.00 on my 1250, worth every penny.
Not hard to do, took about 4 hours. Now the quest is to get front hydraulics...

not real sure... it has the 16 horse kohler and I took it to a guy to work on the deck and he said by the numbers that it was a 1650, i will look when i get home and write the numbers down, does anyone know how to read them or is there any other way to tell if it is a 1650??

I have a lead on that if you want it but act quick.

thats a bit pricey for the ease of lifting, here in kentucky we dont get much snow so a blower is not needed. I think ill just keep the manual lift for a gravel blade if i can find one cheap. Still need to know how to identify if it is a 1650
