42" Blade

Well I actually had a "look what followed me home" moment today! Scored a 42" plow off of a 782..

It may turn into a bit more in the near future, they were IH dealership owners during the IH cadet times..

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but that may not fit your 682 quite right. I find it hard to believe that was working right on a 782, as that's a blade from a later 'cyclops' tractor that has a taller front axle. I had one of those on my 782 once, and the bottom part of the subframe was only 2" off the ground. It worked but the geometry was all wrong. I wound up selling it and buying the correct blade.

The only thing that is different is the sub frame mount, everything else is the same. And that can be fixed by grinding the welds off of the front uprights that connect to the front (quick hitch) on the tractor. Then just weld them back on so the pivot (A shaped piece on the back of the blade) is level or slightly high on the tractor side. Don't go to high or the blade will want to dig in all the time.

Not at all Matt, I knew the sub frame looked a bit different than what I have seen for a WF. But for the price I figured if it did not work right, I would still be ahead even by having to replace the subframe. I have about 4"+ clearance, and get about 6-7" of lift. I use my quad for plowing snow and from the bit of work I did with it this weekend it will work fine for what I needed it for..

I'm just trying to figure out how the wear bar can be completely worn, with the rest looking like it is almost never used.

ok so I have what I beleive to be a cyclops. (1862 plastic front) looks like the front 2 mounting arms are longer to give agreater height. would hte original poster be will to post some pics of the side of the carriage near the front???

and also a measurement of how long those front tabs are that lock into the front. this is what I have. not a good pic but only thing at the moment. the arms look a bit shorter http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/l...adet/plow3.jpg
