How To Remove a 42" Mower Deck From a 122?
I need to replace the center spindle bearing, refurbish the idler assembly, and paint the deck, but first I need to remove it from the tractor.
The problem is, the tech info I've looked at on here does not cover my mower deck: the left and right sides are cast iron, and the attachment system is different from anything I found information on. Can someone tell me what I've got? It's been a PITA already, because I have a set of belt guards I bought that don't fit this apparent orphan. |
So I'm guessing you have a 42" cast end deck which is a pin on deck, you'll notice at the front and rear of the deck there's cotter pins or ribbon pins where the deck meets the undercarriage. Once those are removed you can gently pry to get the deck off the studs that it's hanging on.

Here's a pic from my cast end deck manual. Lower the deck and remove the belt. Then remover the pins and washers from C and D so you can pull the eye bolts and the rear of the undercarriage off the pins. Once you do that you can lift the undercarriage with the lift handle and work the deck out from under the tractor.

Worked like a charm-- thanks very much!
