Questions about my 1772
Hello Everybody,
My name is Cody Romero. I'm 17 years old. About 3 years ago, my cousin/neighbor/Best Friend passed away. All my life, driving the Cub Cadet was a privlage, We've always had problems getting her to start, because the battery always died. So to rid it, it was an 1/2 an hour job, Julo was a big man, and a little Slow. Well back to the point. I was on a fixing streak this past week, after fixing a plow, and plowing a piece of proberty. I got out the 4-wheeler to drag the drag, and smooth the piece. Well even in 4-wheel drive, she was having trouble. So I thought i'd get the Old 782D out and use her. Well i was having my normal troubles, and even more. I noticed that there was a rather LARGE oil spill on the floor, well it's because the hydrostatic fluid is no longer on the dipstick. So after about 1/2 an hour of scraping, I got out the pressure washer, and gave her a good soaking. I couldn't find where it was leaking from, other than that it was somewhere high. So, I took the body off. I pressure washed her again, and now she's clean. there are 2 places that she's leaking from. ON top of the hydrostatic block (??) there are 2 pressure releife nuts, They are connected to the power steering ram by 2 tubes. The oil is flowing from there. It don't do it constantly though. Just on and off. BEHIND the hydrostatic block, there is a PTO that is connected directly(??) to the driveshaft. The seal around it is leaking. Is it possible to change this seal without taking the rear end apart. I hope so. http://i645.photobucket.com/albums/u...D/IMG_1514.jpg http://i645.photobucket.com/albums/u...D/IMG_1513.jpg http://i645.photobucket.com/albums/u...h_MVI_1537.jpg I"m assuming that this is the correct replacement. IH - Rear PTO Power Take Off Shaft Oil Seal PN/ IH-126107-C1 USE IH-126107-C2 Fits all Rear PTO's Including Farmall Cub & Lo Boy tractors. $11.00 Ea. It can be found at this link, the very last one I'm assuming that the pressure nut is leaking, because it is low on oil, i'm hoping. Any help would be appreciated in fixing the above issues. |
At the front of the hydro on top those are the two release valves that are leaking out the weep holes. They need replaced, or you can try removing them and blowing them out with air to see if that fixes it. The rear seal can be changed without to much trouble. People have taken a couple screws and screwed them into the seal just enough to grab onto it and pull it out. You don't actually have a rear pto, it's just a splined shaft that's goes to the optional rear pto on a super. The new seal part number is 921-3032

Thank you very mutch aagitch. That's exactly what I needed to know. I should be able to get the seal from the local Cub Cadet dealer, correct?
I'm a little dissapointed in hearing that I don't indead have a Rear PTO. If I'm understanding correctly, the 782, 882,982 all have basically the same frame and such, so theoretically, I should be able to put a PTO from the Super (? 982 ?) onto my 782D. I really hope I can. Could somebody tell me exactly what tractor I have. I have the owners manuel for an "International Cub Cadet 782-- Diesel Tractor". Julo wrote on it that he purchased it New on April 3, 1986. +The Serial Number is 746,142. That would mean it's a CCC and not a IH, correct. or am I wrong in assuming that. So my question is, do i indead have the correct manuel, or do i have a manuel for an older tractor. I also see that it's possible to get a 3pt for the 782, or is that only availible for the Supers. Also, to control the 3pt. i'm assuming that I would some how disconnect the "mule" Belly attachment Lifting Ram, and run a rod to the 3pt. If that's correct, how exactly do I do that. :P I thank yall for the quick replyes and Welcoms. Cody |
You cannot put a rear PTO on a 782D or any other non-super 82 series, for that matter. It is a CCC tractor built for sale at IH dealerships.

Matt, Thanks.
This may be a stupid question, but what engine exactly do I have. I know it's a diesel, but that's about it, I can't find any plates on it, but then, i'm not sure exactly where i'm suposed to be. I know where the one on the frame is, but engine, got me. Is I have a Kohler, and if so, is it a series 1, or 2 Here are a few pics http://i645.photobucket.com/albums/u...D/IMG_1527.jpg http://i645.photobucket.com/albums/u...D/IMG_1525.jpg http://i645.photobucket.com/albums/u...D/IMG_1524.jpg Thanks Cody |
Cody: The engine in your CCC 882 is a 3 cyl Kubota D-600 Diesel engine. You need to go to www.binderbooks.com and order IH GSS-1509, The IH Service Manual for the Engine, Fuel & Electrical systems (Kubota Diesel). 782D's are RED! 882's are Yellow/White!, otherwise they are the exact same tractor.
The Kohler's both KT Series I & series II are twin cylinder GASOLINE engines. Where are you in Louisiana?? I'm just over the line from Logansport, Louisiana in East Texas. |
That's not an 882 either....I see an SGT front axle and brake pedals on the right, so that's a 1572.

Cody...Matt's got a good eye and I believe is correct about the Model. The engine is the same in the 882, 782D 1512 & 1572...

Matt, Your a Major Help. So does this mean that I have a '86 1582 D <--?? I will post some more pictures tonight, as I'm doing this durring Lunch at school. We're not allowed to view Photobucket, So, that would make more since, because i truly do have a wrong manuel.
So What else can you tell me about her, I see that the 782 has decals on the hood, where as mine has some glue hills, so i'm assuming that she had a badge on her. Is it possible to put a Rear PTO on my 1582, or is she not a Super, I'm not sure on that point. MBounds, I'm in Lafeyette, LA, About an hour West of Baton Rouge, LA. and about 4 hours east of Houston. About the Kohler engines, I wasn't exactly sure. Thanks for the clearification. I appreciate it alot. I do know that about 3 years before he passed, so about 6 years ago, the engine got rebuilt, and new crankshaft, drivestaft, and some wiring was installed. Would the seal number that was mentioned earlyer still be the correct one, even though I have a 1572. Thanks for all the help guys, I can't tell yall how much I apprciate it. Cody PS. A few of my pics can be found at my Photobucket site, My user there is Elephants16, so search that. I'd post a link, but I can't access it. You'll find it under the "Cub Cadet 782D" album. Thanks |
