Running a hydraulic pump off of the front pto on a 70
 

Ok for my latest idea I was wondering if the front pto on a model 70 would be able to turn a decent sized hydraulic pump to small loader considering it's only 7hp and a mechanical tractor? I would try to mount 12v multi valve some where in the frame channel so it would be joystick controlled. Any ideas?

Yes, it will run a hydraulic pump. They put loaders on "O"s.

I think you'll be hard pressed to find space in the frame of a 70 to mount a solenoid control valve. They take up more space than a 2 spool manual valve. That's a lot of money to spend on a loader valve. You'd be better off with a duel spool valve with a single joystick. Plus, you won't have much on "feather control" from a solenoid valve.... unless you get a specific one that can do that, which would also mean the joystick would have to be compatible. Maybe you already know all that......

Yep I was just looking up parts online and found a two spool joystick. So that solves that problem. Just wanted to make sure it tear the pto off. Any Idea about flow rate hoping for around 10gpm.

5 GPM is more than enough. You can run a loader off the charge pump on a hydro and it's less than 5 GPM. Just under 4GPM IIRC. 10 will work.... but now your talking $300 + for a pump.

Here's what I did to set up hydraulics. It's on a 125, but it might give you some ideas. Pump is 5 GPM and works just fine.

I've been toying with the idea of a loader for my 127, this is the pump setup and spool valve that I've been considering. Haven't done much research into it beside pricing parts.

Well, there are some issues....

First off, the pump is max rated at 16GPM but the valve is only rated at 10GPM. So, not a good idea there. Second, you don't need or want a two stage pump. No reason for it. You will just load the loader and it will slow down. Just use a smaller GPM pump and you will be fine. As stated earlier, you only need about 5GPM to run a loader for this small of a tractor. These aren't super huge machines guys. They aren't skid loaders. They won't be fast and they won't pick up a lot. Size of the tractor just won't let it. If you want something that moves and works like a skid loader, buy one of those.

Good points. I was figuring on the valve slowing the pump down since it wasn't at high pressure when running 16 GPM. I was planning on buying it, mostly just looking at this for pricing, I still hope that I can find one at a junkyard and salvage it.

That's the same spool joystick I found. Thanks for all the ideas, I think I'm going to go with a 5gpm gear pump no two stage for the simple fact that the second stage is higher pressure but slower. My only other concern is the tank, the volume is supposed to be 3x the gpm. 15 gallons or do I go smaller and and something like a transmission cooler with a 12v fan and where's it going to go
I'm probably just over thinking all of this, it's a simple system made of expensive parts.

I agree with the no about the two stage pumps. They for log splitters. Low pressure high speed first stage until you hit the wood then pressure almost doubles and moves very slowly through the wood. All heavy equipment use gear pumps just much larger than the ones we're talking about.
