122 Hydraulic lift pump leaking

I searched the threads and can't locate the answers. The hydraulic lift pump on my 122 is leaking from the front just a little bit. Is it difficult to change the seals? Where's the best place to get a seal kit? And what type of oil is used in the pump? THanks all.

I have never had the seals leak on any of mine yet, but you might check your fittings and make sure that everything is snug before buying a seal kit. I use Hytran (same as rear transmission) in all of my hydraulic lifts.

Very good point. Never thought of that. Thank you.

"Hytran". Is that a type of oil made by various manufacturers? What name brands should I be looking for?

Hytran is what International Harvester put into the rearend/transmission on the hydrostatic version (123) of your tractor when they built it.
Can still be had where they sell Cub Cadets and/or parts.

There are also other brands that claim to be an approved substitute per their labeling.

this thread will answer many other questions about the hydraulic unit and rebuilding it, seals, etc.

Thanks. Tractor Supply might be an option. There's only one Cub dealer around here. I saw a product on line made by Cub Cadet, but it was called drive system fluid. Same thing?
