CH18s Charging
Just a little infrormation that I learned tonight. My 1864 had not been charging correctly since I got it back some time ago. How the pto worked up to this point is beyond me, but I only had 7.45 volts at the battery. After testing the alternator with 26 vac present even at engine idle, I still had just 7.45 volts dc out of the voltage regulator. Huh, no ground wire from block to regulator... So a quick ground wire install and we were running almost 14 volts!
Oddly enough dad has the same "No Charge" issue since the same guy hooked up his engine. Long story short, it was a simple fix, don't let foolish pride get in the way of getting the job done right. |
