HELP my 123 will not fire/start
Got back to work on my CC123 that I got last year about this time, did have it running last year but needed some work on the motor. So I got the motor back in the cub and hooked up the wires and it is dead as can be, replaced the ignition switch today and still will not start. I know the batt. is charged, replaced the cond. and points last year to get it to run.
tried jumping from the batt+ to the coil + so as to bypass the ignition switch and no fire. looked for a safety starting switch but doesn't look like there is one. What have I missed??? I am asking for help big time as I cant come up with what is not working right. Thank you for your help and time . Joe |
File the points.... they aren't making contact.

Pull the plug to check for spark, make sure it's getting gas.

Thanks for the feed back so far, when I called it dead it should have been It will not turn over. so I know that it is not getting power to the starter/gen. unit, I jest don't know why. still working on it so who know I may have some luck yet.
Thanks for your time, sorry I was not more clear on what it was not doing. Joe |

Check the solenoid to see if it is getting power from the key. Then check to see if it has battery power on the battery terminal, hold the key in the start position and check to see if it is going out the other terminal. You should hear a "click". |
An update;
I got it to start, bad safety switch wire. fixed that for now as it looks like a total rewire in in need. Still have something wrong as it will not stay running when you let the key go from start to run, motor dies but the start/gen will still try / is running but not like it is trying to start. So more work yet to be done. Thank you for your help and sorry if I didn't get all of the info right in my first post. Joe |
Here's who you should purchase a wiring harness from
http://www.onlycubcadets.net/forum/s...ad.php?t=34457 Mlamar does an excellent job on the wiring harness and every single connection is labeled. Plus they are a great value for the money. I have one in my 125 and it was easy to install ( even for an electrical idiot like myself ) |

X 3 on those harnesses. Rewired my 102 and was very easy with proper wire color and a tag on each to tell where it was to go. Pretty much goof proof.
