109 Driveline

Hi Everybody, Just purchased a 109 that someone put a k301 in and the driveline was trashed, So I put a new one in and it looks to be about 3/8 to 1/2 inch to high to lineup with the hyd. unit. The motor is a 1985 k301, spec #47504 which from what I researched is for a 1972 IH. and should be the right oil pan. Bolts and Bolt holes in the trans are all like new.(no movement) Can someone please help ?:bigthink:

pic's of Driveshaft

Sorry about that, Here are some pictures of driveshaft misalignment as you can see Driveshaft is to far up. http://onlycubcadets.net/forum/pictu...pictureid=7061

I would loosen the bolts at the differential/transmission and see if I could raise the pump input shaft for better alignment. Short of that not doing any good, you might be able to shim the front of the engine a little higher.

This is assuming you can't find anything else wrong including the correct solid drive coupler on the engine.

Did that

I SHIMMED THE FRONT OF THE MOTOR WITH A .080 SHIM AND LOOKED LIKE THE CENTER WOULD ALIGHN BUT THE FLEX COUPLER WOULD BE WORKING A LOT. Did not seam like that would last very long ??

How about loosening the rear end and see if you can raise it.

I would think the pump driveshaft and crankshaft should be line/line and in the same plane. That rear coupler and driveshaft aren't meant to run at an angle to each other.

Silly question, there isn't a bunch of washers or shims between the engine base and the mounting holes for some odd reason is it? You never know what the last guy was thinking sometimes:HeadScratch:

Did you get a new drive coupler on the engine?
As far as alignment, it looks pretty close to me,looks to be an 1/8" off.BTDT

The shaft doesn't align perfectly.... that's why it has flex couplers.

The stub ( small ) end of the driveshaft fits into the rear coupler.
