Newby with 169 from VA
 

First post, so a little info....

A relative is trying to get rid of an old Model 169 that's been sitting in her garage for a few years since her husband died.

I don't know anything about old cubs, but took an immediate liking to it, and I rescue old motorcycles, so maybe I'll just keep this one for myself, and see what I can do with it.

It's got a rusty tank, gummed up carb, flat tires, broken ear off the brake rod shaft (so no brakes), wobbly steering, ......but it does have a 44" mower deck!

I'll try to attach a couple pics to see if this works.

Second rarest cub made my good man and has some options, spring assist and rear lift. Looks to have the 169 specific rare parts too which is always good. Get it, soon! Also always good to keep them in the family too. We will help get it back to where it needs to be, lots of threads on here about issues you listed and how to fix

I've been searching for availability for another main jet in case I end up boogering this one up trying to get it out, but it is not given a part # in my parts manual!

Hopefully won't need it!

Welcome. Good looking 169 there. Read some on rebuilding Kohler carbs. You won't need anything but a rebuild kit.

It is shown in vintage dirt now, but it should clean up ok.

I've read and downloaded some good manuals, and it came with original manuals.

I finally got the main jet out and it is soaking now, so dodged that bullet.

Looks like all it needs are the two bowl gaskets for now...found a used brake rod arm on ebay and it's on the way. It is still at my cousin's house and she has a very steep driveway, so I wasn't looking forward to loading it on a steep incline not running with no brakes! I'm guessing this thing weighs a good 1000lbs with the mower attached?

Welcome to OCC, very nice 169, rear lift and spring assist too, it weighs around 750 pounds with the deck I believe.
