Belt for 450 snowblower on a 2182

Hey all,

Quick question here. I have a 450 snowblower I'm putting on my 2182 (converted the PTO to the small pulley for the winter months, so I don't over-drive it) Have the correct drop plates and extended lift arms on it... I get good lift height and it sits on the ground properly (yay!)

The last piece of the puzzle (I hope).... I cannot for the life of me figure out what length BELT I need! The previous owner of the 450 had it on a smaller frame, so it's way too short to fit on the SGT. I've seen people reference that the "SGT mounting kit" came with a longer belt, but I can't find a part number or even 'equivalent dimensions' anywhere.

Can anyone shed some light on that for me before the white stuff comes? Pic of 450 mounted on 2182, because every thread is better with pics :beerchug:

Thanks much! After my post, I remembered a friend of mine has an 1872 with a 450 as well so I drove over to look at his. Found MTD 754-0341 (superceded by 954-0341) which is (dimensionally) the same thing as what you posted. Thanks for the speedy replies and I'm attaching the following photo so future readers can find it easily.

I do really want a cab... I can't justify the money that I see them turn up for, though sadly.

A 954-0341 is a 5/8" x 89" Belt.

A week or so ago someone on Craigslist that lives in the Oshkosh area had 2 older soft cabs for sale, I think the price was $125 for both.

I see them come up once in awhile but the pickings are very limited and they usually sell fast. I use a soft cab on my Cub which is always parked the garage, I keep a garage door remote in it during the winter :biggrin2:

I had gone to Tractor Supply to get some belts for my 450 thrower on the 1572. I was having some issues in that the belt was bottoming out in the pulley sheaves. It would run fine unloaded but when loaded and blowing the snow, it would slow way down. The cub belt was a taller belt and went deeper to the ID on the pulley where the Tractor Supply belt was a blue kevlar belt was not as tall of a profile and had had more room against bottoming out in the sheave. I've had the same kevlar belt on the 1572 for the 450 snow thrower for 5-6 years now.
