Tree down and a little Cub work
 

We've had 35mph winds yesterday and last night, we heard something crash last night but couldn't see it in the dark and since I didn't see anything on the house so what's to worry? Decided to sleep in this morning and not go hunting, still pretty windy, raised the blinds and well I wasn't going hunting even if I wanted to! Neighbor offered his long bar saw which made it go a lot faster, then had all those chunks of wood to move, used the hook and chain method, sure glad I installed that hydraulic lift late this summer, one of those was enough to make it hard to keep the front wheels on the ground, lots of leverage with that long boom hook, I have a weight bracket made but no weights for it yet, think that would help, anyway got the job done in time to get out in the woods for last 2 1/2 hours of hunting time, still have not seen a think!

Yep you need a full rack of front end weights! I love the boom.:beerchug: Be careful if you don't have much experience using a boom, that front end can come up really quick. We have a custom made one on a 90hp farm tractor. I used it last week to drag off sections of trees the power company cut in dad's yard. Even weighing in at 10,000 lbs (give or take) it was hair raising at time. I didn't have any weights on the front so it was even worse.

Looks like you had fun. This is what I use if I have to skid logs. It's a boom pole I got from Redland hill. I shortened it to get the load close to the tractor. Back up to the log, wrap the chain around the log and lift and go. The boom replaces the top link, works slick. It would be easy to make something like this for a Cub with a Cat 0 three point.

Thanks Guys, it was fun getting to use that, and yes that was the max load in that pic, have no idea what it weighed but I had to sit pretty far forward to be able to steer, what I figured out is that in that situation backing up is better it seemed?
John you're right that front end could come up very fast I learned a fast respect for the heavy load for sure, need to finish the front weight set up, some day...
Sam that is a great idea, the biggest problem I've found with the 3 point is it's so far off the back for such a small tractor, that idea is going to get a serious look along with front weights. We have alot of trees on this property and one of them is always seeming to need moved some where.
