TSC Washers
I like to buy nuts and bolts by the pound at TSC sometimes. The thing that I can't understand though is why they don't have "real" 1/4" flat washers. What they sell as 1/4" flat washers are really 5/16" which is pretty sloppy on a 1/4" bolt. Also, their 5/16" flat washers are really 3/8". :bash2:
I wrote to TSC last night about this, and it will be interesting to see their reply IF they reply. |

the ones here are labeled one size too big. they work for the next size smaller bolts for some reason.

Pretty much every brand of fastener washers are like that. Your wasting your time writing TSC, they don't make them anyway.
Lawson Products are pretty good. I don't think their washers are this way, but it's been a while since I bought any from them. Go to your local Fastenal Store and buy some. They may or may not fit better, but you will decide that since they charge 2X as much for the same thing, you can live with what TSC sells. FWIW, you can just use the next size down washer for your fasteners.... no one will ever know. :Shhhh: |
AND,,, I thought this thread was going to discuss,,,, TSC Washers!!,,, :bigthink:

Just a quick glance in the Machinery's handbook and I found 5 different listings for 1/4" plain (flat) washers.

Lost of variance in thickness as well, I have noticed.

If you want washers that fit an SAE bolt check out metric washers. The OD is a little bit smaller but they are a nice fit on the bolt.:beerchug:
