5254 front pto

Does anyone have a pic of a Cub Cadet 5254 front pto drive shaft?
I have a 5254 with a front snowblower. I have the shaft that goes from the front pto to the blower but not the one from the trans to the pto. My question is: is it solid at the trans end with a U joint at the pto end? Vice Versa?
Any pics would be Greatly appreciated!
Thanks.

:Welcome2:

We don't normally deal with the compact tractors here, and I'm not sure if any of our members have one. They may, but again, we don't deal much with them.

Does your tractor have the front PTO attachment? How about the front hitch and hydraulic kit? Near as I can tell at first glance, all that is required for the snowblower, but not sure. I am sure, that the PTO shaft will have two u-joints in it.

Is it a 5254E, or a 5254L? Serial number of the machine?

J-Mech,
Thanks for the reply. Yes I do have the front pto and hydraulics. If I can get a pic of the drive shaft I can fab one up.

If you know how to build a driveshaft, I don't understand why you need a pic of it to make one. It has a quick couple on both ends with a u-joint. The shaft will also have a slip joint so it can be installed..... easy-peezy is you can build drivelines.

Sorry, as a new member here I don't know you, or your qualifications. That is a high speed shaft, and has to be built and balanced for the speed or it will come apart. Like building a driveshaft for a truck.... have you done this before? It's not like building a simple 540 RPM PTO shaft.....

I don't know why I didn't mention that..... I looked it up.

As a note, that's not a bad price for that shaft at all. I doubt you could build and balance it for that price unless you work at a driveshaft shop, or your a mechanic with access to parts at a discount.

Guys,
Thanks for the feedback. Upon further evaluation I think I'll take your advice and order one. By the time I buy the joint, spline adaptor and shaft I'll probably be within $100 of the cost of new. The only reason I wanted a pic is I'm not sure if there was a u joint at both ends or just one.
Thanks again for taking the time to help me out!
