Took my junk to the track yesterday.
I was surprised when my son ask me if I would like to join him and some friends yesterday when they went to a car show at the drag strip. He just got a WRX and there was going to be an import show. I am not into imports but the WRX is a nice little car and the important thing is an 18 year old invited his dad to go along. So I have been itching to try out my new drag radials so I thought why not. Well this car show was not like any I usually attend. I am not being prejudice in any way I very much believe in to each his own but I am just reporting what was there. The show participants were younger than what I normally see at a car show and about 60% latino. Pot was being smoked at just about every car, The music was so loud that you could not tell one song from another and the police were called to break up a fight. On the other hand I was very happy with how my junk ran and enjoyed watching the racing with my son. So all in all a good day. The junk ran mid 11's @ 129MPH with an easy launch and me lifting early (Me bragging again ). The best was my reaction time was .002 not bad for an old fat guy and his junk. I took it easy because if I broke into the 10's they would not let run again.

That's some pretty serious times for a Junker, LMAO. I watched the NHRA yesterday and the kid that won Pro Stock had a .002 reaction time. Just shows that us Old Fat Guys can still get it done. Congrats! :beerchug::beerchug:
The WRX is an awesome track car. Get your son into a drivers ed course at a place like Pocono, Summit point or Watkins Glen. These are just a couple of many groups that you can check out. http://www.emraracing.org/ https://www.bmwcca.org/ you don't need a BMW to join the BMWCCA, outstanding club. I used to instruct for BMW and I raced with EMRA. |
Sam thanks for the info we will check it out.

Charles you may want to put the street sneakers on the Muskrat and try it your self. Turning left and right for a 1/2 hour is way more fun than a 10 sec straight line run. Oh and brakes and tires are more important than huge HP. If you decide to do it let me know and I'll be happy to help you. Trust me you'll never go back to drag racing. The pic is yours truly a few years ago at a TrackMasters event. I used to instruct for TM. Nothing like spanking high dollar sporty cars with a truck LOL

I'm not a Ford guy but that car is sharp, and 11s is hauling! I've got an old, stock 1988 Monte Carlo SS with the original drivetrain in it, and I think it would be a miracle if it pulled 15s.
On the other hand, my brother just bought a 392 Challenger this weekend, although I don't know if it's a full on SRT or a Scat Pack; I haven't had a chance to see it yet. |
Good looking Mustang, Charles! I really like the Mustangs also.

Respectable time Charles, and good looking smoke fest.:beerchug:
Fastest I ever went was 13.2 in the 1/4 back in 1980 in a 67 Camaro. It was a buddies car we used to run down at Wisconsin International Raceway. One weekend we took King of The Hill with it in Street Eliminator. Still have the trophy, as he left it to me before his passing.:beerchug: |
Thanks for the compliments. The car should break into the 10's. I launched from idol and lifted early as I do not have all safety gear that is required to run in the 10's and I did not want to get thrown out.
