Comparing 1872 & 1811 deck height

After doing some reading here, I decided to use the 50c deck. Instead of the 60" deck. I understand 60" deck under a older m18 is a strain for the engine. Maybe someday if I do a repower with a larger engine. But the main point of the photo is notice how much higher the deck is on the 1872. Both mowers are in the full up position and wearing 50C decks. The extra height will come in handy when mowing paths in the woods. |
Got no idea why one lifts higher than the other. I will tell you this about the 60" Habans--they barely clear the ground. Driving from dads house to mine over a very nice farm road the front gauge wheels constantly bang the ground. We don't dare take it in rough terrain. Just thought I would pass that along before you ever swap the 50 for a 60.

Are you sure that 1811 deck won't go higher? I've got one on a 782 and seems higher than that.

Don't know were the problem is but my 1872 with a Haban had no issues with clearance...also the M18 spun it up with no problems even going up a substantial hill... Engine had 900+ hours..

Clay, I noticed that your 50C decks have the front gauge wheels. Is there any way you could take a picture of them and the mounting bracket? I would like to add a set to my older 50 that only has runners on the front.
