149 PTO Clutch Rod Problem
 

I'm in the process of restoring a 149. The engine needed rebuilt so I put a 109 engine in it (K241A). After installing engine the PTO rod hits the starter. I have changed the direction of the rods every at I can.

if you were closer I would gladly give that 14hp that you took off of it a home as long as it is mostly complete....

I've changed everything and nothing helps. Even tried rotating end caps on starter. Only thing that works close is the starter off the 149. Only thing is with it the belt is under the pto rod. I came here in hopes someone else might have another solution

14hp is complete just goin to rebuild. This 109 came in for free so I'm just using motor for the time being

This how the rod is on my 149.

Are you using the bracket that holds the starter to the block from which engine?
Can this bracket be turn 180 degrees ?

A picture of both brackets would be helpful.

Any chance you have the lever I circled in red on upside down?:bigthink:

Sam that's the way mine is now that I am using the starter off the 149. The end caps line up different so it makes it a better fit. The starter mounting bracket is the one off the 109. I can rotate the mounting bracket but I would say it would be putting it right on the frame
