Economical dual coil replacement.

Just looked up the coil for a 782 and about had a heart attack when I saw $280. I'm looking for a more economical replacement and found some inexpensive dual coils on eBay but wanted to here some opinions on the matter. Here's a link to one of them, would this be suitable and if not what do you recommend? Thanks.

I have heard of people using the HD coils.

Here is another option but not as cheap.

I found those on eBay as well, I'm just looking for the most inexpensive option because nobody has ever heard the engine run and I don't want to sink a boatload of money in it to find out it's junk.

I done a little searching on the Internet for Emgo #48-98618. Some of the sites state that the "primary resistance" is 3.9 ohms, which is inline with Kohler's 4-5 ohms.

Thus, I would say this would work.

I have since found the Primary and Secondary specifications. It will be a GOOD match.

And that's why you're the electrical guru and I'm not, thanks again Roland.

It's common for manufacturers to use products already in existence for their builds. It's somewhat known that a Harley coil is the same/similar to the Kohler one. I always want to know, if it's the same part, how does Kohler justify the ridiculous price tag they put on theirs, when it's the same thing.... :Unknown:

Nice find on the more economical part!

The real find will be if the guy doesn't back out of the deal and delivers the tractor later today like he's supposed to, I will share more when it arrives.

I worked for Toledo Scale back in the 70, 80's and could not believe the mark up on parts they would re-sell. No internet at the time, so you were locked in to their parts and prices.
