The 56 BelAir

I happened to get a partial picture of the 56 in one of my post a few weeks ago, and have had a couple PM's wanting to see pictures of it, and to know a little more about it. Well okay, here it is.
It’s a 1956 BelAir hardtop with a GM crate 350, and a 700R4 trans, 3.50 gears with posi. Headers with 2 1/2" exhaust and Flowmaster mufflers. It’s upgraded with power steering and brakes.
The original colors were black and white, but the PO changed them to factory colors of Matador Red and India Ivory.
It only has a little over 800 miles sense frame off build was completed in 2012. Most of the stainless and chrome were saved, but some was replaced. The PO installed new glass except for the windshield. The interior was all replaced with aftermarket seat covers and door panels, as well as headliner.
He installed new floors all the way through the car, from front to back, as well as some sheet metal. He did a real good job building it, didn't cheap out or cut corners, it's by no means a "show" car, but a very respectable driver, and that's what we were looking for.
I added the hand controls, steering wheel and exhaust tips so far. Still to get are wheels and tires, soon as we make up our minds what we want, and heater with vintage air. I want a “throwback” looking car, something that would have been built back in the day.

Here's the wheels you need Todd. I prefer the 57 myself but would be happy with a 56 or 55, nice ride Todd.:beerchug:

Great looking 56 Todd. It should make you a great cruiser. I really need to stop buying cubs for a while and finish my 57. Thanks for posting the pictures.

Nice car! not ragging on yours but I couldn't get into the 56s...The 55s make great gassers and the 57s have better styling for a hot rod.

VERY NICE!!! Whats wrong with the wheels and tires, look great to me--you just wanting a different look? You going to drive this around town or just to car shows? Regardless of what your plans are for it, enjoy it!

Sweet ride Zippy!!

I had a 55 and let it go when the kids were little and I knew I would not get it done forever. Hope to get another one someday.

I am glad you are looking for wheels that go with the car, the wheels today just make me ill looking at them.

I hope you get many years of enjoyment out of it, you got a nice one!!

Nice Chevy Todd!

Remembering when these cars were every day beaters.
bought a '55 for $35.00, drove it a couple years and sold it for $75 while in H.school
Bought my '57 convert in '61 for $350, wished I still had all my old Chevy's
But what did we know, back in the day.
I'm sure a lot of us wished we could go back and do things over again.:bigthink:
