Holes in front frame for attachment mounts (1650)
 

Gents, need your help on something I found in a picture from the internet. I have a 1650 Im converting to dual stick, have almost all the factory supplied components. when I purchased the tractor the PO had drilled holes in the front of the frame sides to mount a 450 snow blower attachment. The picture I found is of a 1650 for sale and has what looks like factory holes for this purpose, as there seems to be a welded reinforcing collar in the hole. Can anybody please verify this , my tractor is a 75 MY and Im sure the 1650 in the picture is a late one by the steering wheel change. The blower works fine and did his long driveway for years ( although from my very first post ,it was stated it could be a little bit much for the 1650 )Was toying the idea to mount it correctly .

I don't know what you want to know? To my knowledge, NONE of the Quietline tractors came out with holes in the frame for the 450 blower. The 450 didn't even come out until MTD took over if I'm not mistaken. The only 2 stage blower IH offered was the 350, and it came out late later in the 82 series. They did offer an adapter package for it to attach to the QL machines. But the 450 was never designed to go on the QL's. So.... the holes have to be added. If you already have a machine that has holes drilled, what difference would changing to another machine make?

If you are running a 450 blower on a QL and using bolts in it at all, you have it mounted "correctly".

From looking closely at the picture there is an added steel ring in the hole which looks as it could be factory supplied for extra strength,( think of the mounts for the axle pins )What ever could mount there ( any implement wanting a pin ) would make sense. Im asking if it was ever available late in the QL series or was it just over kill by some one who converted like my PO did with the 450 blower, but he just drilled holes for the pin mount.

Pretty simple to add that, if it's not just a dirt ring. No, none of the QL's came with that hole drilled.

The only implement needing that hole on a GT is the 450 blower. A power broom may have also used it, but I'm not very familiar with the brooms.

To me that hole looks like the one in a 1x8/9 series frame, the one the PTO arm goes in.

Are you sure you have a 1650?
where is the ser number located? And what is it?
Should be on the carb side of the frame by your foot.

Could be, these pictures were from a 1650 for sale on the internet, not my machine. I was just curious as I never saw it before either. And looked like a neat way to make the hole stronger for the heavy 450 blower as it has already started to wallow the holes . I like the blower and the hole mod would be a factory style look. We will see what progresses, need to get it together for the lawn first.

Ok there is supposed to be the bend in the lower frame that would be the snubber stop so to say and it isnt there, so you solved it, this is not a QL frame for the 1650, probably just added decals or who knows.

Nice catch guys. I concur, it does appear to be for the PTO lever. Also, there are no nuts on the hydraulic lines, so someone may have switched frames. It could also be a very early 1650 and they used up the frames they had left for the older machines.
