680 Hydro HELP!!
I bought a 1982 model 680 142 U off of CL this past winter. The seller stated that the PTO shut down after an hour of hard use. How bad could that be I thought to myself? lol He was right... it did. The tractor bogged down to nothing while going up a slight grade with the PTO engaged. It was throttled up 100% at the time. After it ran for 30min the motor just cut out. It could be restarted... then it would cut out again till it cooled.
I just spent 800 dollars at a local dealer for a new pto unit. It does exactly the same thing now. :bash2: I wanted this beast so I could mow and make a few bucks to support all my other bad habits but my return on this investment is already at the breaking point. There are threads out there with this issue .... but I never found any definitive resolutions. My issue is this: If you guys can detail a reasonably cost effective repair then I will carry on. If not I really need to take the loss and make this thing go away. The engine starts and runs easily. It looks decent.. I will happily post any photos you guys require. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!! Rick :American Flag 1: |
$800? That's highway robbery.

You came to the right place Rick. Sounds like you have a fuel issue or an ignition issue. What engine does your tractor have in it?
|
$800?!?!?!??!?!?!? They saw you coming!!! :beatdeadhorse:
The PTO sells direct from CCC for $613.92. Here, check it out. Item #1, click "add to cart" and it will give you the price: http://www.cubcadet.com/equipment/AR...0-A/0017900014 So, the PTO shuts off? Or the engine dies? If the engine dies, why the heck would you replace the PTO???? |

I hope that is more descriptive? |

So not only did I vastly overpay (the PTO was 600 with labor and a couple maint repairs) I probably left them with a perfectly good PTO to add to their inventory. I will be discussing this with them. Will there be any kind of resolution? Nope. |
How long will the engine run without the PTO being engaged (off)...???
