Hi from Indiana

Hi, I'm Matt, my wife loves the fact that i get on these things and spend a lot of time on my computer. please read and help me with my tractor problems. thank you.

now that my wife has made my introduction for me (LOL) I guess a little background is in order. My grandpa retired from IH in the early 80's. He was big on brand loyalty, and since IH had their fingers in a lot of sugar bowls, there was a lot of IH branded stuff around, from snow throwers, lawnmowers, hedge clippers, refrigerators, and yes, a Cub Cadet 108. That Cub needs a tune up but is in otherwise great shape, always stored indoors. Rarely has it spent a night outside. When it came to me buying a tractor to mow with, naturally I looked at Cubs first. I bought a 169 for $400 and mowed until it threw a rod. Moved and rebuilt the engine, but the new place didn't have a big year and I didn't need the tractor really. Bought a 107 for $50, sold the 169 (I really wanted to sell both) and now I'm working on fixing the 107. So far I've replaced one rear tire, wiring harness, and I pulled the motor to check the engine mount holes and fix the flywheel screen. So far it seems to cut nice, but I think the engine needs a tune up/carb adjusted because it didn't seem to have the power to turn the blades and move the tractor through the grass as quickly as I would like.

I don't think I'll be posting much, I tend to do a lot of searching before I ask questions. I do have what I think is an 8hp Original motor that is just sitting on my garage floor that I will probably post up for sale. I've got no use for it, so why keep it?

Welcome to OCC. Going from a 169 to a 107 is a major downgrade in both looks and performance, that little 10hp will never cut grass as fast as the 16 would, good luck with your project.

I wanted to sell both to free up a lot of garage space, but the buyer only wanted the one, so...

Hello and welcome! Yeah big difference in 16hp vs 10 ! I'd say time for another cub! Lol
Can't have to many! Keep us posted on what your doing!

Welcome to OCC!! Great group here! Neat story about your grandfather and his employment at IH! My uncle was the same way.. worked for IH in the 1950's.. he had IH everything!! Too bad the corporate giant had to fall!

Hate that you sold your 169... very sought after model... 2nd lowest production of Cub Cadets I think?

Please keep us updated on your current project!!:beerchug:
