105-Question about Drive selector

Hey guys, new to the forum. Got a question on my 105. I've started a full restoration on it (it's in pretty rough shape but I picked it up for real cheap. Exhaust valve stuck up, relief valves stuck down, some things missing here and there. I'm about to split the tractor to go ahead and replace the hydro gasket and seal that up (don't know if it leaks, but I want to learn how to pull it apart.)

But the question I have is, when the tractor is off, should I be able to move the gear select into forward or reverse? It seems frozen in place, tried pulling the selector and messing with the shaft, nothing worked yet. Let me know what you guys think.

Sounds like the linkage is rusted stuck. Kroil is your friend.

Also make sure the brake pedal is released. It locks into neutral when you press it.

Thanks very much guys. I'll check the brake pedal and the linkage. I had a wedding over the weekend so I didn't get into the cub, but at least a bunch are parts came in the mail! A new head (the spark plug threads were destroyed) a helicoil kit to fix the damaged head, spring compressor, valve lapping compound and some Autolite plugs. Time to get to work.

So I've had some time to get into the 105, and I have a few follow up questions. Would there be anything mechanical that would stop the brake pedal from being pressed down all the way? Reason I ask is that it stops at about a 30 degree angle from the foot plate, feels like something is stopping it. Engine is almost ready to go, I can't wait to fire it up.
