2182, engine surge

I was getting an intermittent surging. I was never able to keep a low rpm idle and even sometimes at WOT with no load I would get a surge. I saw that Sam Mac had adjusted his governor, I tried the same but no change. So far the only thing I had really skipped was rebuilding the carb. Popped it off, tore it down for a thorough cleaning (it wasn't gummed up but had dirt and rust in it) and reassembled it. Wouldn't you know, runs like a champ and idles super smooth. What a great machine.

Debris fouled carburetor. A common problem, btdt. Consider cleaning the fuel tank and replacing the fuel lines as the tubing interior deteriorates shedding particles. Congrats on the repair,

Shame on me, I flushed out the tank, cleaned out the shut offs, replaced all fuel hoses and the filter but skipped cleaning the carb because I was too excited to have it running.

Just meant it's real easy to get excited about the first ride and overlook something that should've been taken care of!:biggrin2:
