Testing charging system

So I want to make sure the charging system is working properly on my 101 I bought how do I test the generator and the voltage regulator when I got it the battery was dead and they said it won't hold a charge so I put a new one in but want to make sure all is working correctly

Check the voltage on the battery, it should be somewhere around 12v. Then check the battery with the tractor at full throttle, it should be around 13.5v.

whats the next step if you are not getting that voltage, what do you test to determine gen/starter or regulator?

Thanks that's super helpful. I didn't know that existed! Now I just have to run my tractor long enough for my gauge to read not charging and do the test!
